Believe it or not, Stila is a brand that is really new to me. The only product I’ve really tried from them is their now discontinued Stila In The Light Palette which I am still obsessed with, so it doesn’t make sense that I haven’t tried anything else! But, I have heard great things, in particular about their liquid lipsticks. I’m very excited today to share with you my review on the Stila Play It Cool Liquid Lipstick Set*, which is in fact a special product here in Australia as one of Mecca’s Christmas releases for 2017.
WHAT IS IT?
The Stila Play It Cool Liquid Lipstick Set contains three Stila liquid lipsticks in the shades of Baci, Patina and Bacca. The liquid lipsticks are enriched with ingredients such as Vitamin E and Avocado Oil, which promise to provide the lips with hydration, while the formula itself is creamy and matte. The liquid lipsticks are also marketed as ‘full coverage’ and will stay ‘in place for up to 6 hours of continous wear’. Here in Australia, this trio will retail for $29 AUD and it is available in selected MECCA MAXIMA’S and MECCA COSMETICA’S. You can also find it online here.
Baci | Pattina | Baca
Applicator, formula and shades: Absolutely love it. I found that the applicator made the liquid lipsticks very easy to apply, and the formula went on effortlessly. I received full pigmentation straight away with Baci and Pattina, while with Baca I needed to go over a couple of times. You can also see this in the swatch as application wasn’t as even as the other two shades. My favourite shade of the bunch is definitely Pattina and I’m really not surprised because I’ve heard so many good things about Pattina before.
Drying time: The formulas are quite quick to try. I’d say maybe after 30 seconds to 1 minute after you’ve applied, they’re fully set. It will depend on how thick you apply the formula and how many layers you do though, of course!
Comfortability and longevity: The liquid lipsticks are very comfortable on the lips. They do feel a little dry, but nothing extreme like some other liquid lipsticks that I’ve tried. You can eat and drink with these and not lose too much of the liquid lipsticks. But if you are wanted to keep these on absolutely all day, they are quite small so you can easily keep it with you for a slight touch up which might be needed towards the middle section of the lips.
I found this trio to be a winner and now that I know these liquid lipsticks work well for me and my lips, I’m definitely going to be looking into more Stila products.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The price point of this product is $29 AUD and I think that this makes it a great stocking stuffer for any of your makeup friends. It’s great for anyone who wants to try out liquid lipsticks, or Stila for the first time.
WHO ISN’T IT FOR?
If you have tried regular matte lipsticks before and have found them quite drying, liquid lipsticks are that little bit more matte. So, you might find these a little uncomfortable if you don’t dig a matte formula. You can always apply a lip balm of some sort under or over the product. However, that might impact how long the formula will stay on your lips.
