L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balm

Today’s post is all about a new drugstore lip release. Think easy to apply, convenient packaging and sweet scented. I’m of course talking about the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balm*.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balm

In my eyes, the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Sexy Balms are L’Oreal’s version of a lip crayon. These sexy balms are intended to offer up to 12 hours of moisture and colour. They are available in 12 shades and each one retails for $14.95AUD or £4.99. Here in Australia, you can pick up the Sexy Balm’s in selected supermarkets, pharmacies and variety stores.

Let’s start things off by talking about the scent. These balms smell like candy. To be more specific, jelly beans. I thought it was very cute of L’Oreal because when they did this send out, the sexy balms were in a glass container, packed full of jelly beans. If you aren’t fond of scents, don’t worry it doesn’t really linger. It’s mostly only there when you start applying the balm.

The packaging of these lip balms is simplistic, but I quite like it. With a name like sexy balms, I’m happy that they’ve kept the packaging quite minimalistic with only a variation in the lid colours. Sheer colours have a transparent coloured lid while the bold colours have a metallic coloured lid.

I’m quite happy with the shade selection. But, of course, I would have loved a few more brown, mauve nude shades. I’m not as big of a fan of bright pinks or reds, so I don’t think I’ll get too much use out of those colours.

On my lips, the formula feels very lightweight and comfortable. The product itself glides over my lips and is very easy to apply because the product has a clearly defined tip. The balms don’t cling to dry patches and certainly don’t look patchy at all. This really excites me because here in Australia we’re entering the cooler months and a product like this is great when our lips aren’t feeling so kind.

Pigmentation of these lip balms, of course, differs on the type of finish. As mentioned earlier, there is both a sheer and bold formula. The sheer formula is what I’d best describe as a light tint, and something very natural. Think my lips but better, or a just-bitten type of lip look. On the other hand, the bold formula is what you’d expect from any of L’Oreal’s lipsticks, but delivered in an even smoother formula.

One thing that I don’t completely agree with is the 12 hour claim. I personally don’t think that these products have longevity. I find that they look gorgeous upon application and a short time after. But, as soon as I start drinking, eating or a lot of time passes, I have to touch up to keep the pigmentation looking strong.

If you’re someone that loves easy to use lip products, I’d definitely suggest these lip crayons for you. All of the shades can be applied without a mirror and they are so smooth that they can top up moisture and a bit of colour throughout the day. I think that the sheer shades are particularly good for those of you who like natural makeup or are still getting used to wearing different colours on your lips.

  • Will it sound weird that when I saw your photos of it, it totally does not look like a L’oreal product? The brand usually have different packaging!

    • Totally agree! This packaging seems a lot more minimal and luxurious almost! It is still quite plasticy though 🙂 x
