NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers

It’s only been the last six months or so since I’ve really started falling in love with concealers. So much so that my current concealer is almost finito. What does this mean? Well, I’m on the hunt for something new! I’ve been trialling out the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealersfor quite a few weeks now and thought it was about time to review them, because I’m pretty impressed.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer is claimed to be “NARS’ highest coverage concealer yet”. But, they also emphasise that it will provide “natural-looking coverage in an oil-free cream formula that blurs, conceals, and smooths imperfections”. That’s quite a mouthful so I was definitely curious to see how these concealers would work with my acne prone and very oily skin.

Within the Soft Matte Complete Concealer range, there are 16 shades. The particular shades that I received are Light 1 Vanilla, Light 2.5 Creme Brulee, Light 3 Honey, Med/Dark 2.5 Chestnut, Med/Dark 4 Hazelnut and Dark 1 Cafe. As Summer has just ended here in Australia, I’m quite tanned. None of these shades are an exact match for me currently. But, as the weather cools down and my tan fades away, I can tell that Med/Dark 2.5 Chestnut will be perfect.

FORMULA

The formula of this concealer was something completely new to me. When I think of concealers, I think of something really creamy to the touch that has a slight glow or sheen to it. They usually feel really thick and a little bit slippery. This concealer isn’t anything like that. It is still fairly creamy to the touch. But, it isn’t as smooth in the way that I’m used to, straight away at least.

APPLICATION

Because I love the way that concealers melt into the skin when they come in contact with body heat, I use my finger to apply the concealer to my problem areas. The formula goes on feeling slightly drier and less smooth than other concealers I’ve used because it is matte. But, as soon as I start blending it into my skin, the formula’s smoothness becomes apparent and it starts to sink into my skin. It’s quite interesting because it hides my redness and makes my acne look less raised, while still looking very natural.

FINISH

I personally really like this concealer and how it has a matte finish. I feel like the formula of this concealer is really comfortable to wear. I apply concealer before foundation and I think that because it isn’t as slippery as other finishes, my makeup all glides on so well. In my opinion, it also looks slightly more natural than other concealers.

I was eyeing this concealer in stores the other day I love the coverage level it appears to have but I’m still iffy as to whether it would sit underneath my eyes. I mean it’s more of a cream concealer rather than liquid so it could possible crease on me.
