Kit Cosmetics After Dark Spark Eyeshadow Palette

The Kit Cosmetics After Dark Spark Eyeshadow Palette* doesn’t look like your ordinary palette. The packaging isn’t sleek or rectangular. The individual pans aren’t square, and the eyeshadows themselves actually stand out.

This palette genuinely intrigued me as soon as I saw it and it wasn’t until later inspection I actually realised it was by Kit Cosmetics!

If you haven’t heard of Kit Cosmetics before, they’re a brand owned by Mecca. That means that you can only find them online at Mecca’s website or within selected Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cosmetica stores.

My perception of Kit Cosmetics is that they aren’t a typical makeup brand. They don’t really do your basic, average products. Or, if they do, they at least try to make them look bad ass and pretty edgy. I also find them to be a brand that is priced competitively. This palette for instance is only $30. That’s usually the price of a L’Oreal eyeshadow palette when they aren’t on sale. I think that’s pretty cool.

The After Dark Spark Palette contains 9 lovely shades. I think that this palette is based around the idea of your neutral shades being matte. The shimmer shades are there to add a pop of colour or something special. Well, that basically spells me out in two sentences. Literally every eye look I do is mattes in the crease and shimmers on the lid. Sorry if that makes me a little basic, but that’s just how I role *sassy girl emoji*!

From the swatches, you can definitely see that the shimmer shades are more pigmented and smooth in appearance than the mattes. The colour pay off with the shimmers really surprised me and they blend very well too. I only experienced a little fall out, nothing too major.

Yes, the mattes aren’t as bright or polished. But, I feel like there’s nothing wrong with the colours. They still show up nicely, just not as much. If you wanted to lightly define your crease or create a natural day time matte eye look, I think you’d like these! If you wanted something really dark and strong, the mattes probably won’t be for you. Then again, I do think if you layered them up or used a wet brush you could get good pigmentation.

If you have every palette under the sun, you probably don’t need this one. But it’s definitely perfect for someone who is always on the go. You can use the mattes in the day time with a little bit of the gold shimmer on the lid, then smoke it up at night. The palette is very light weight and it’s also got a massive mirror.
