My Simplified Skincare Routine

My skin is problematic enough on its own and after counting way too many skincare products in my routine, I decided enough was enough. Because of this, the last few months I’ve been trying to cut down on all the various brands and ingredients that I use on my skin. It has now resulted in My Simplified Skincare Routine.

My Simplified Skincare Routine

Starting up, we have the Bobbi Brown Oil Cleanser* which has become an absolute obsession of mine these past few months. I used to swear by Micellar Waters and delicate eye makeup removers, but this takes the cake. No matter the makeup I’ve had on that day, this will remove very close to all of it. Yes, it’s an oil but it isn’t anything that feels uncomfortable, even on my oily skin.

Whenever I’m not wearing makeup or as a final cleansing step after the Bobbi Brown Oil Cleanser, I reach for the La Roche Posay Purifying Foaming Gel For Oily Sensitive Skin. This particular wash has really helped lessen my natural oil production. I know this because when I first starting using it, this was the only product I changed in my routine. I introduced this and bam. I find that this product doesn’t strip my face of oil or leave too much.

This next product is more of a facial mist and toner in one. It’s the La Roche Posay Serozinc and it contains Zinc Sulfate which of course, is designed to help oily, blemish-prone skin (me). I love washing my face, drying it with a clean towel, spritzing this on and then following up with a moisturiser which I’ll talk about in a second.

No matter what moisturiser I decide to use, I  love starting with an oil when my face is still wet from Serozinc because I feel like it helps my facial oils sink in. The two in current rotation are The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil* and RosehipPlus Pure & Natural Rosehip Oil*. I’ve had both of them in my collection for a bit but they’re a rediscovery. These products sink into my skin straight away, help with hydration and with fading my acne scars.

Away from the oils and onto the more traditional moisturiser type of products, I love the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo aka miracle in a tube. Back when I was addicted to YouTube videos, I remember there being a stage where nearly everyone was talking about this product. I now understand why and I’m kicking myself for not trying it earlier. Even though this product is intended to be an acne spot treatment, I like to use it as a moisturiser. Don’t worry, I only use a super thin layer. My skin has never reacted badly to this product and I especially love using this under my makeup during the day.

Last up is the Avène Tolerance Emulsion* which is one of those magical moisturisers that provides a great amount of hydration to the skin, without feeling heavy. The formula itself is quite milky and contains a lot of Avène’s Thermal Spring Water. This emulsion sinks into my skin virtually straight away and I think if you have oily or combination skin, this will be your jam.

I usually reach for the Effaclar Duo during the day and the Avène Tolerance Emulsion at night.

I am exactly the same, I previously swore by Bioderma Micellar water but lately I have been converted by Cleansing Oils. I am currently loving and using Dermalogica Precleanse but this Bobbi brown one sounds amazing as well! Rosehip Oil is definitely a staple in my routine too – no bias at all haha! xx
