A recent addition to my skincare routine is the Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar for Dry Skin*. I have been using it for a while now and I honestly cannot get enough of it. What’s really interested is that I used to be against anything that mentioned the words ‘dry skin’ or ‘hydrating’ out of the fear that it would make my face even oilier than I naturally am. A few months ago, I decided enough is enough. I no longer let words on packaging decide or dictate to me what I can and what I cannot use.
Sure my face is oily, but we all need moisture and TLC. I have found that my skin isn’t as oily and upset with me since I have started using more hydrating products or ones suitable for dryer skin types. You can be sure that I’m going to continue using these sorts of products because my skin is loving it.
No fancy colours or packaging here. It’s nice and simplistic, to the point. The scent is very light and a teeny bit floral.
The method of application I use is dotting it around my face and then rubbing in a section at a time.
I love using this cream at night because it isn’t sticky and sinks in straight away. My pillows are mighty happy and so is my face when I wake up because it feels smooth and very rejuvenated.
The overall texture of my skin has definitely improved since using this once a day and I cannot recommend it enough – no matter what skin type you have.
One thing to be wary of is that this product does contain an alpha hydroxy acid (not sure what it means but this warning is on the back of the box). All in all, this ingredient makes you a little more vulnerable to the sun so you just need to make sure you’re really #slipslopslap with your sun protection (but you really should be anyway).
Do you buy products based on what packaging suggests?
What’s one thing that you love that you thought wouldn’t work for you?
